Just a hint for making a live cd
I stumbled into this conversation: https://github.com/manjaro/manjaro-tools-iso-profiles/issues/120 Please follow the links to Israel Dahls ToriOS. May be you will find something interesting about how to make a live cd (i'm not so able to judge).
I know Israel a little bit from the lubuntu developer crew and he is very dedicated to make run a decent linux desktop even on very old macs. I saw he too has something like a configuration manager for JWM; may be that's an alternative to the jwmconfig i got from manjaro (?)

Another option would be the refracta-tools ( http://www.ibiblio.org/refracta/documents.html ), which are currently used to also build the unofficial Devuan minimal live images, see: https://git.devuan.org/KatolaZ/devuan-live-minimal .
