renaming files like origins/devuan or etc/devuan_version can cause issues on other packages
it's ok to rebrand those files to match devuan instead of debian, but it's better to add a compatibility symlink, like for example etc/debian_version that point to etc/devuan_version, to avoid issues on packages and other softwares that check the old debian file for anything.

Actually origins/default should be created as a symlink to origins/devuan, but other fixes are needed for that to be automaticly generated and respected. I'm working on fixes here and in debootstrap to support this properly.
