Root partition too small when selecting seperate partitions on small drives

I started installing Devuan in a VM from the amd64 DVD ISO with a [default for virt-manager] 8GB drive, selecting separate /home from the available automatic partitioning options, followed by selecting a desktop environment during tasksel. This resulted in a / of 2.3GB and /home of 4.4GB. This results in filling the root partition.

Of course, if I had not chosen the desktop environment, everything may have fit. Depending on the target audience, it might be prudent to disallow automatic separate partitioning on small drives, or outputting a warning message.

This case (small disk) is rather rare. You always may use "Manual" option during disk partitioning. Have You any trouble with new kernel install with 8 GB disk? If You didn't install new kernel, can You test it?
