I didn't produce the images, so can't comment on the size/format.

What I have done is in the post-install provided a script to detect the native resolution & aspect ratio and use a simple calculation to decide what format to use.

Didn't FlibberTGibbet do the final wallpapers? I don't know what name he uses on git or I would ping him here.
