Consider these tweaks for your theme

slim

Instructions for others:

1] create a folder under /usr/share/slim/themes

2] copy these three files there

background

panel

slim.theme

3] edit /etc/slim.conf

3.1] change the value of 'current_theme' to the name of the folder you created

    @hellekin . . . just want to make sure that you see this. The purpy greeter absolutely needs to be integrated before the release. It would be nice to have the input box bg slightly whitish like the boot screen entries. Thanks to Boruch for providing the fix.

    Here's an update to two of the files, with the main functional consequence that the session selection messages now properly appear.

    1] The panel really should have been of a minimal size, and based upon a transparent base layer, so I did that with gimp.

    2] The configuration file needed to be tweaked, to account for the panel size and positioning. What seems to be the situation with SLiM is that the session message text layer 'sits' on the background image's layer and will be 'covered' (rendered invisible) by the panel's layer, even if the panel layer is transparent! OTOH, most of the other message text and input are layered on top of the panel itself, and will be rendered invisible if they go beyond the bounds of the panel.
