provide a non-free install image
like debian, devuan should provide a non-free install medium ( http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/ ) since for some people(like me) it is nearly impossible to use devuan because of that reason(it should at least include the network/wlan drivers)
-
I'd let this into the hands of a third party who'd get their hands dirty on it. Devuan should better focus into proving a fully systemd-free stable, simple, no-nonsense and thoroughly free-as-in-freedom OS. Even the Debian non-free repository is an unofficial project. That especially when workarounds are easy and cheaply available, like getting a well free-software supported WiFi USB adapter, some of which cost just 15/20\xe2\x82\xac.

even the best OS is useless if no-one can install it. Also don't come with those so called workarounds like: "you can download the firmware here and prepare an USB-key here stuff")
manjaro openrc or gentoo is faster installed as preparing such an USB key!
also great idea with the free Wifi alternative, however you forgot its a laptop and the bios is locked down, so an internal modul is a no-go, using an external usb stick is no option here esp. since drivers are available. Its also against anything a laptop is, not to mention that there are not endless usb ports available)

This is far from true regarding Devuan, I know from first-hand experience. You might well have incurred into some hardware that does not work on free software to the point you cannot even install a bare system on it, but such cases are rare and are not a point against the basic philosophy of Devuan, of being a fundamentally free operating system, to the point it rejects even free software that takes away freedom of choice to users, like systemd.

Does it take longer preparing a Devuan USB install key? No, it does not. If the install time of those distributions is shorter, this could be a sign Devuan's installer could be streamlined, not that it needs proprietary drivers. Anyway, installation time is a wholly different matter compared to the claim that "no-one can install it".

I'm not sure I get what you mean. How could an install image laden with proprietary software help? How is the BIOS locked-down and how could it be unlocked with proprietary blobs? If no "internal module" (the kernel's?) could help, how could proprietay drivers help?
Its also against anything a laptop is,
What do you mean by this? I think your point is moot. Anyway, anyone is free to produce and distribute a third-party Devuan install image with proprietary drivers and firmware, I still do not think this is something the Devuan team should busy itself doing.

no network connection ==> no wlan drivers ==> network install not possible
Does it take longer preparing a Devuan USB install key? No
of course it does, esp if you need to workaround missing network drivers since you always need a second PC for it.
How is the BIOS locked-down and how could it be unlocked with proprietary blobs?
no, the only way to unlock it is to to hack the bios: http://goughlui.com/2014/08/02/laptop-wireless-card-whitelists-an-upgrade-nightmare/ its a pretty common tactic by manufacturers
apart from that the intel wlan drivers work nicely on linux, so why should i use something else? other cards would also probably consume more power since intel cards are supported by tlp (my power manager of choice)
Its also against anything a laptop is.
its a tiny laptop that has 2 usb ports, it would hurt to lose one to a wifi dongle(every used usb port would consume more power which results in less battery life). there are also other issues here (one usb goes away for the logitech receiver(mouse & keyboard), so there is one left for an usb-drive, cd-drive or to load the cell phone

This makes as much sense as asking Ford to make the Taurus model electric because you cannot operate it without gasoline. I'm happy to let you know you have other installation venues available:
https://files.devuan.org/devuan_jessie_beta/
devuan_jessie_1.0.0-beta_amd64_CD.iso
devuan_jessie_1.0.0-beta_amd64_DVD.iso
Of course it makes sense you pick up the only one that cannot work on your hardware and then blame Devuan because you cannot install it whining that "no-one can install it".of course it does, esp if you need to workaround missing network drivers since you always need a second PC for it.
Of course it does not, it's as simple and fast as picking the right installation image like every other distribution. And customizing an install image is just as simple and fast on Devuan like any other, except that in fact changing systemd iso images I expect to be more prone to errors and failures than an install image based on an older, more solid and simpler init.
no, the only way to unlock it is to to hack the bios:
Do you expect Devuan to do this for you? You bought unsupported hardware, what do you expect Devuan developers to do? How could possibly a proprietary-laden install image remove the laptop's firmware whitelisting?

if understand correctly from ascii release notes : https://files.devuan.org/devuan_ascii/Release_notes.txt ( "### Non-free firmware" section)
All Devuan 2.0 ASCII install media make non-free firmware packages available at install time.
this has already been fixed and should probably be closed.

At least the "devuan_ascii_2.0.0_amd64_netinst.iso" does not include wifi drivers so I went with debian instead!
