I tested the Nokia N900 image, and found that the console keymap is missing important keys, which are accessed by pressing the blue Fn key and the associated symbol. This makes it very difficult to use the device.

Installing thekbdpackage enables all of the symbols marked on the actual hardware keyboard (I have the international layout, so not sure about those with German keyboard layouts).

There are other personalized layouts available, with even more symbols.
