For the latter I suspect you're talking about the font icon for gnu_dark .

What are the properties of that image? (width, height, number of colors, resolution...)

The logo on the boot screen was to the left of the a generic entry for 'Gnu-linux' (which is actually refracta). I found it once on git but now it's hiding. It was't identifiable as anything. Would be nice to replace it with a white version of this icon:

@hellekin here's the icon that needs replacing. What exactly is that? Your GNU icon is quite recognizable. Of course it needs to be whiteish:
